Microsofts' Deepfish for Mobile Web Browsing

Mobile Web and Microsoft

Microsoft appears to be working hard in innovating for mobile technologies lately. Following this week's announcement of ZenZui, a spinoff company having originated in Microsoft's Redmond Research Lab, Microsoft showed off a new web browsing technology at this week's O'Reilly Emerging Technology Conference. The technology is called Deepfish, and it attempts to make web browsing on a mobile device more closely resemble the web browsing experience on a computer.

Most full web pages typically require lots of time to load on a mobile phone due to their having been designed for a computer. Deepfish attempts to get around this problem and minimize bandwidth usage. When it loads the overall thumbnail of the page, Deepfish is not loading the entire page, but rather a smaller, more bandwidth-friendly snapshot of it. And when the user zooms in on certain parts of the page to read, Deepfish only renders that part of the page instead of the entire thing.

Website Templates and SEO

Advantages of using web-templates:

1. Time saved in setting the patterns, colors, themes and layout of a website.
2. Choose from the variety of options, you will have the glimse of the site in the making or will be for you.If designed by professionals, these are very good in visualization and usability.
3. Save money as templates are cheaper (some are free too) than the total cost of building/developing from scratch.
4. 'Comparatively' easy customization is possible as compared with actual coding.Most of the templates can be customized by anyone having basic HTML/CSS knowledge.Some WYSIWYG software (Editors) runs on any windows computer to help you out.

Disadvantages of using web-templates:

PageRank Algorithm Explained for SEO

Google's PageRank Technology:

PageRank was developed at Stanford University by Larry Page (hence the name Page-Rank) and Sergey Brin as part of a research project. PageRank (is a probability distribution )is a link analysis algorithm which assigns a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents, such as the World Wide Web, with the purpose of "measuring" its relative importance within the set.The name PageRank is a trademark of Google. The PageRank process has been patented (U.S. Patent 6,285,999), not assigned to Google but to Stanford University.

Google's PageRank Defination:
PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page's value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves "important" weigh more heavily and help to make other pages "important".
The Google Toolbar's PageRank feature displays a visited page's PageRank as a whole number between 0 and 10. Google has not disclosed the precise method for determining a Toolbar PageRank value. Google engineer Matt Cutts, have publicly indicated that the Toolbar PageRank is republished about once every three months.

The Google Directory PageRank is an 8-unit measurement. These values can be viewed in the Google Directory. Unlike the Google Toolbar which shows the PageRank value by a mouseover of the greenbar, the Google Directory does not show the PageRank values.The Google Directory is the only service offered by Google where PageRank directly determines display order.

Google is known to actively penalize link farms and other schemes designed to artificially inflate PageRank.

Yahoo Robots Tag for NOYDIR


Here is something new With Yahoo! :
We’re adding support for the Meta tag called ‘NOYDIR’ that will complement the ‘NOODP’ Meta tag, which we already support. If you’re unfamiliar, the ‘NOODP’ Meta tag is basically a way for webmasters to indicate that Open Directory Project (ODP) titles and abstracts will not be used in search results for their pages. While we continue to pull from various sources to provide the best title and abstract for a given page in search results, we realize that webmasters may still want the ability to exclude titles and abstracts from the Yahoo! Directory. So, as promised, we’re providing support for ‘NOYDIR’ which will recognize the following Meta tags on your pages:
