Mobile Ads in India Growing Exponentially.
The new funda of advertising, Mobile Ads is now a reality.
Yes, starting from special offers, discounts to job offers and quiz participations; all come under direct or indirect advertising of a brand/company or a product/service.
Checkout this news from Business Today,
It may be irritating for many consumers, but even as many of us frown when we receive SMS ads on our phones, advertisers say there is great potential in this new medium. Mobile advertising or Mads is the new buzzword in the Indian marketing sphere.
Key advantages
* Advertisers can design ads for specific target groups
* Visibility and cost effective rates for advertisers
* Additional revenue stream for operators
* Unmatched level of intimacy with customers in comparison to other mediums
With the handheld device becoming an indispensable companion of millions of Indians, market players are designing campaigns aimed at specific sets of users. The M-ad segment includes campaigns like banners and contextual advertising on mobile internet or WAP, using video games to advertise a product, polling, contests, etc.
The market is already worth around Rs 50 crore and has the potential to grow at 200 per cent a year. The global M-advert industry is expected to reach $11 billion (Rs 44,000 crore) by 2009, and India is likely to account for 1 per cent of this. Of course, the availability of high-end handsets supporting GPRS will help mobile advertising to grow faster.
Currently, there are an estimated 15 million GPRS-enabled handsets in India. Even if it grows at 25 per cent every year, WAP advertising will see a spurt. In view of this, players like the US-based mobile advertising network AdMob are tying up with Indian firms to draw advertisers onto WAP-based sites.

SEO solution to Flash websites
sIFR lets you use your favorite font on your websites by cleverly working with Flash, JavaScript and CSS.
What is sIFR ?
sIFR (or Scalable Inman Flash Replacement) is a technology that allows you to replace text elements on screen with Flash equivalents. sIFR is the result of many hundreds of hours of designing, scripting, testing, and debugging by Mike Davidson and Mark Wubben. Mike, Mark and an invaluable stable of beta testers, supporters, and educators like Stephanie Sullivan and Danilo Celic of Community MX completely rebuilt a DOM replacement method originally conceived by Shaun Inman into a high quality cross-browser, cross-platform typography solution for the masses.
The current sIFR release is version 2.0.2. sIFR is released to the world as open source, under the GNU Lesser General Public License (see human-readable summary at Creative Commons), so anyone can use it free of charge.
Put simply, sIFR allows website headings, pull-quotes and other elements to be styled in whatever font the designer chooses - be that Foundry Monoline, Gill Sans, Impact, Frutiger or any other font - without the user having it installed on their machine.

Search Engine in China facing Problems
Problems for Search Engines in China?
According to the news from Pandia
Several sites report today that Chinese ISPs are redirecting searches made on Google Blogsearch and other search engines to the Chinese search engine Baidu.
Some point to the fact that Baidu has a partnership with ISPs China Netcom and China Telecom to redirect all invalid (or blocked) traffic to Baidu.
(Others argue that the redirects are limited to forbidden terms.)
It seems that someone in the Chinese policy apparatus has decided that Google Blogsearch is too dangerous to be left to the masses. That makes sense, actually, as the blog search engine gives access to fresh news and less prominent sites that have not been marked and banned by Chinese censors.

Yahoo's news search tool unveiled!
Did you see what is new with Yahoo ?
Checkout the little drop down arrow below the search box.
A new addition showing the suggested additional keywords ( popular words or keyphrases) in the lines of an online suggestion tool.

Great thing to implement, good work.
There are some effects to that
1. Now organic listings go further down.
If you consider the dropped being for the keyword "seo india" atleast 3 results are being sacrificed in organic ranking.
2. More competition for the paid listing as its showing less number of ads @ the top.
3. If you can manage #1 ranking organically, you can enjoy multiplied visitors as compared to the past and the second one might go in the next fold of the page, which rarely is visited by 60% visitors (approx calc.)
New questions coming up for SEO's worldwide !!

New Domain Name Extensions Coming by 2008
How many domain extensions do you know about ?
Most Popular are the Top level domains or TLDs . They are .com /.net/org etc. In all there are more than 200 TLDs,including the two letter extensions like .in used for country specific websites . Here .in stands for India.
ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) is responsible for the global coordination of the Internet's system of unique identifiers. These include domain names (like .org, .museum and country codes like .UK), as well as the addresses used in a variety of Internet protocols. Computers use these identifiers to reach each other over the Internet. Careful management of these resources is vital to the Internet's operation, so ICANN's global stakeholders meet regularly to develop policies that ensure the Internet's ongoing security and stability.
According to the latest News from Reuters.com,
"
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (Reuters) - The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, which manages the Internet's domain-name address system, said on Friday it was on track to allow an expanded number of domain names next year.
ICANN officials, wrapping up a week-long meeting in Puerto Rico, said their goal was to have in place by next year a permanent process to allow for new, generic top-level domain names, as well as to begin "internationalizing" domain names.
"With the progress we've made is San Juan, we're on track for the new applications and approvals policy to be ready for the start of 2008 and the introduction of new TLDs by mid-year," said Dr. Paul Twomey, president and chief executive of ICANN.
The California-based non-profit organization oversaw two previous extensions of Internet space: the addition of seven TLDS, including .info and .name in 2000, and the addition of another six starting in 2004.
It recently denied a petition to include .xxx as a TLD to be used for pornographic Web sites.
The group is also working to expand the number of characters that can be used to create Internet addresses, currently limited to the 26 Roman characters, 10 numerals and the hyphen. This would allow the use of Arabic, Chinese and a multitude of other characters to be used in domain names. "

Yahoo! CEO Steps down
Yahoo!, the No. 2 search firm that has struggled in its battle with Google, said Monday that Terry Semel was out as chief executive officer, to be succeeded by Yahoo co-founder Jerry Yang.
Susan Decker, who heads a relatively new group that deals with the company's advertisers and publishers, and until recently was also chief financial officer, was promoted to president.

Yahoo's stock has been flat while Google's shares have risen more than sixfold since Google's IPO in August 2004.
Wall Street cheered the moves, but some online advertising industry experts said Yahoo's new management team still faces tough challenges.
Semel, who joined Yahoo chairman and CEO in May 2001, will stay on as non-executive chairman. But Semel has come under pressure from investors in the past year as the company has fallen further behind top rival Google in the online advertising market.
Shares of Yahoo surged 3 percent in heavy trading on Nasdaq Monday as speculation mounted that Semel might step down - and the stock rallied another 4 percent in after-hours trading.
Wall Street seemed to welcome the promotion of Yang since he is viewed as being far more tech-savvy than Semel, who had a background in traditional media before joining Yahoo.
